Harkila Accessories

Corporate and Social Responsibility (CSR) is an area that Härkila is proud to place at the top of our agenda. It is a big part of our DNA and who we are as a company. Our CSR policy is integrated into every part of the brand. From design to suppliers and shipping.

We believe that no one should turn a blind eye to the climate crisis or critical work environment any longer. We all have a responsibility to contribute to solving the environmental and social challenges. That means Härkila has a responsibility as well.

We do our best to operate as a socially and environmentally responsible brand. Härkila has existed for 35 years and has achieved many goals in sustainable initiatives that we are proud of, giving us an even stronger willpower to continue down this path to become one of the most sustainable and socially responsible brands that exists in our segment. We are working on and looking forward to the next 35 years where our CSR ambitions are greater than ever.

We are proud of how our products are created and we vouch for their quality. That is why we carefully select our suppliers and thoroughly screen their CSR profile before choosing to partner with them.

The green profile of our suppliers. Below you can see a handful of our suppliers and what they are doing to reduce their carbon footprint:

Pontetorto has introduced ‘EcoSystem’, which is a leading project for the environment. It includes the use of fabrics made with organic cotton and recycled polyester, while all yarns and polymers come from reprocessed clothes and used bottles, respectively.

Gore-Tex uses the Bluesign system, which is a highly demanding and comprehensive environmental and safety scheme for the textile industry. In addition, Gore-Tex uses ‘Oeko-Tex Standard 100’ – a product safety standard, which requires all of their material to be approved.

YKK has developed NATULON® zippers, which are resource-saving and reusable zippers made from plastic bottles, old fibres, and polyester residues. In addition, they use certified organic cotton, which helps reduce the use of synthetic chemicals in agriculture. They also use Lyocell zippers with Tencel™ fibres, which are a biodegradable material made of wood pulp as well as GreenRise™ zippers, which are made of plant-based material.

Gelanots uses recycled polyester, which minimizes their dependence on petroleum as a source of raw material. This causes less air, water, and soil contamination compared to using non-recycled polyester. Some of their recycled nylon also comes from post-industrial waste fibre, yarn collected from a spinning factory, and waste from the weaving mills that can be processed into re-usable nylon fibre.

This is just a fraction of our suppliers that we have handpicked. We are proud to be working with companies that take their responsibilities seriously. And we have an ongoing dialogue with our suppliers so that we can unite and raise our ambitions to make sure that we all take responsibility for the direct environmental impact of our business operations.
